Personal Story

I know what you're thinking, "a doula and registered nurse?" It's a long and serendipitous story. As a Registered Labor and Delivery RN for the past 8 years, I feel honored to be able to share my expertise with women and families around southern CA as a doula. A doula with an RN license is called a Montrice. As a Montrice, I have the skills and scope of practice that a regular doula wouldn't. I approach birth in a very unique way as I possess both a medical and holistic background.

I have worked at three top hospitals including Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA, Cedar Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, and Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. There, I gained experience caring for high risk pregnancies as well as tending to natural births.  I am a certified RNC-OB (Registered Nurse Specialized in OB) as well as a certified Lactation Educator. Fun fact: I also have experience teaching Labor and Delivery at the university level.

So, why did I become a doula? It is my passion to empower, educate, and guide expectant mothers and their partners through the birthing process. For years my former patients and family members have pushed me to start my own doula service. I have to be honest, it took me a while to agree to do it, as I put my heart and soul into every birth. I love what I do and I take it to heart.

In addition to physical and emotional support during labor, my role is also to act as an advocate for the birthing woman and her family. I would be honored to be a part of your pregnancy and birth experience. You can do anything with a little preparation and guidance.

"Noor, There are not enough words of praise to give you for the supportive birth space that you provided for me and my family. I was able to labor in the way I envisioned. That empowering space would not have been possible without your expertise, advocacy, and deep awareness of a patient's needs in that vulnerable space of labor. We feel so blessed to have had you as our nurse. My husband regularly shared that he was scared and overwhelmed seeing me in so much pain but you helped him feel confident in how he could be involved. This truly has deepened our connection as a couple. Brynn is a snuggly and feisty baby girl. Thank you for everything. You are a phenomenal and inspiring nurse.

With Love,

"Noor, you made one of the most special yet very stressful experiences in life so much better for my husband and I. We instantly felt a warm welcome from you, which lead to a special connection. Your knowledge about childbirth was so reassuring, and helped us relax in knowing that we didn't have to 2nd guess anything you suggested. We feel so blessed to have had you care for us in labor."

"From the moment my husband and I walked onto the unit, it was absolutely amazing care. This was my first pregnancy and my anxiety was so high being that this was a first everything for me. Noor was impeccable and professional in all aspects of her care. Noor explained everything to me in detail and had such a caring heart. She was thorough and knowledgeable. Being a nurse, I understand bits and pieces of what was going on, but she really took the time to explain everything. She held my hand when I was getting the epidural, which was the scariest part by far for me. She responded in a second whenever I needed anything. She made sure my pain level was addressed immediately and attended to my every need. Thank you for the excellent care we received while welcoming our baby girl into the world. You're an angel :)"

"Eugene and I would like to say that not in a million years would we be so happy and so sad about our first delivery. Happy because it was the best moment of our lives and sad for when it was over, we weren't in your care anymore. Thank you will never be enough and we will always remember you for being such a monumental member of bringing our son into the world."

"I had the pleasure of attending a birth with you earlier this month. My client Esther came into the hospital to deliver as when she went into labor, she was barely over 42 weeks, by law excluding her out of a home birth that she had been planning for months. I want to thank you for the wonderful reception and care of her, her husband Chad, and baby Yasmin. It was one of the best hospital births I have ever been to. Her birth plan was actually read and respected, which I don't often see. She had the natural birth she had hoped for, with intermittent monitoring, and the ability to labor and birth largely uninterrupted, in any position she desired. I am so happy for her and the team she attracted to her, as it was the perfect team to welcome her baby into the world. I have respect and admiration for your ability to serve women in the hospital environment. Anyone who has you on their team is lucky! Thank you again for your care, collaboration, respect, and the hard work you do every day!"

"I arrived in L&D excited to meet my baby but terrified of the process. The upside of having a 30 hour labor was being a patient of Noor's for two of her shifts. Anytime she came into the room, I felt a huge relief. She is so patient, nonjudgemental, and compassionate. During the pushing, Noor was always there by my side, encouraging me and making me feel like I was some kind of superwoman. I had no doubt that her support and encouragement helped me push harder through each contraction. She was also there after the delivery and never left my side until it was time to check into post partum. Noor, you are such a sweetheart and an incredible nurse. Mitch, Finn, and I are so grateful for you. See you for the next babies! We love you!"

"Noor was an absolute blessing! She was so patient explained everything to us step by step and traversed the labor and induction process with calmness beyond what me and my wife have ever seen. We are so lucky to have been blessed with her. Thanks so much!!!"

"They say there are guardian angels on earth and I believe mine was Noor. I never doubted for a moment that I was in good hands. She literally and figuratively held my hand through the process. From the moment I walked in to the moment I checked out, she went above and beyond to make sure I understood every step of my birth and postpartum experience. She goes beyond the role of being a nurse and treats her patients like family. You have left an imprint on out hearts forever." "
